PARIS, FRANCE- Like a collection of art work, Giambattista Valli's SS23 RTW collection of varying ... [+] silhouettes, different color palettes, and the Creative Director’s signature style makes for an elegant collection.

Set close to the Arc de Triomphe was Giambattisa Valli’s Spring Summer 2023 collection reveal during Paris Fashion Week Yesterday. Like a collection of art work, it is a collection of varying silhouettes, different color palettes, and the Creative Director’s signature style.

In a Vogue Runway interview Valli mentioned his inspiration came from flower markets, buildings, and landscapes throughout Asia, and from Botticelli paintings. He’s Roman, so he also took inspiration from the 1960s Roman aristocracy.

Floral prints, mesh, polka dots, print designs, tweed, and solid prints with color palette of pink, white, burnt orange, black, yellow, hints of gold, shades of green, and fiery pinks fill the collection.

Roman is an influence in the collection.

You can see Rome in this collection from the detailed design on looks, like a white high-waisted A-lined skirt with gold lines and its matching white bra top accompanied by thigh high gladiator sandals. Or the shoulder-less Roman-esque burnt orange dress with flowing sash, also accompanied by gladiator sandals.

Floral prints occupy the collection.

A floral print dress with white background flows off the shoulders and bounces with a connected cape-like shawl. While mesh skirts, some with matching mesh tops make for great summer holiday pieces.

Cuban-esque inspiration is seen the silhouettes through volume fitted pieces.

There’s also something Cuban-esque in some of the looks like the yellow halter dress with ruffles going down the center. And skirts paired with crop tops. The turbans, an 18th century head piece that was revived in the 20th century by Old Hollywood adds an exotic touch to many of the looks.

Valli gets women and the body parts they want to highlight and the parts they want to expose. Feminine and elegant, with a sense of retro chic describes the Giambattista Valli collection.
